Yonekyu's Eco Ideas

Yonekyu actively engages in environmental activities. As a part of our efforts,we are recycling food byproducts from our production plants.

Our self-contained recycling operation turns byproducts into fertilizer.

We recycle food byproducts from our processing plants and other related facilities into high-quality fertilizers. Some of the vegetables grown with these fertilizers are being used in our food and beer products, such as cabbage for meat-stuffed cabbage and two-row barley for microbrew beers. Yonekyu's also making efforts to implement various measures for environmental preservation.

Producing fertilizer at the Eco Project Center.

The Eco Project Center at Asagiri in Fujinomiya City is the core of Yonekyu's food resource recycling effort. It is annually producing 1,000 tons of fertilizer, branded "Compost Power," from unused organic resources consisting of dried food wastes such as food processing byproducts from our processing plants, cattle dung, brewer grains and coffee grounds. We use this organic fertilizer at our contract farms as well as at our affiliated sports facilities to help control grass growth.

Making contribution to society through the local perspective.

At Numazu area where Yonekyu's head office is located, the local government collects PET bottle caps as a recyclable resource. All of Yonekyu employees work together to help this initiative. In addition, in order to contribute to our local communities, we are working on various social action programs together with local groups from a locally based perspective, which includes a Mt. Fuji cleaning campaign, a flower planting campaign among others.
